Swaylock’s Build of the Month is a monthly contest celebrating surfboards & the people that make them.

About BOTM
Who?
This contest is open to any and all builders. That means beginners to pros and everyone in between. The Swaylock’s community is quick to reward effort and creativity — so posting good, compelling imagery along with some great writing should go a long way with voters.
What?
Surfboards, SUPs, paddleboards, foils, fins, paipos, hand-planes. Anything surfcraft related really. CAD/CNC shapes are fine, but the finished product should demonstrate hand-finishing. Your build must be a completed project — not a work-in-progress.
How?
Once a month, submit your entry by emailing your favorite completed build to botm@swaylocks.com. Submissions should have a max of 10 images (or a video) showing progress and completion of your build.
Also include:
Model name (eg. “Pocket Rocket”)
Dimensions
Materials (eg. Balsa, EPS foam, etc) and when applicable, material manufacturer or supplier.
Any details about the build you want to share. This is a good place to share inspiration, learnings, mentors, etc.
Voting
Each month, submissions for that month are compiled and sent to Swaylocks Digest subscribers for voting. Voting is also open to the general public.
The winner for that month will be announced two weeks later.
At the end of the year we’ll have a final subscriber vote for Build of the Year chosen from the monthly winners.

Build of the Year:
1st Place: $1000
2nd Place: $250
3rd Place: $50
Note: Sponsor contributed prizes to be announced soon. Contact me if you want to contribute prizes to Build of the Month, I’ll be adding sponsors all year long.

Swaylock’s Forums
The new forums on Discord are off to an incredible start. 230 people have joined with both old and new members showing up! Fresh topics and threads are being added up daily.
The new format is great. Sharing images and videos is easy. Posting and replying is quick and interactive. Overall, I find the format way more interactive and engaging and I’m very stoked about where it’s headed.
